What Are The Benefits of a Long Term Drug Treatment Program in Florida?

Making the choice to seek help is the first step in the long road to recovery. Living a healthy, sober life is a long yet worthwhile personal journey that takes time and dedication. Deciding on the right treatment facility can be a challenge. In Florida, drug treatment facilities are many, with a variety of options for individuals struggling with addiction.

Inpatient residential treatment facilities are the most suitable for individuals suffering from chronic drug abuse. In these situations, the abuse has made a significant impact on the person’s daily life, and a total change in environment is beneficial. While each facility will differ regarding rules, procedures, and strategies, providing a safe and controlled environment for patients to recover in is the universal goal of long-term treatment.

Benefits of Long Term Treatment in Florida

A Lack of Time-constraint Pressures

It may feel daunting to place a time limit on yourself. Recovery is not a race, and choosing a long-term program allows you to have the time and space to process and heal over an appropriate period of time. Experts have found that undergoing treatment for at least 90 days increases the likelihood of maintaining sobriety.

Breaking the Cycle of Dependence

By committing to living in a controlled environment for a longer period, patients enable themselves to stay in a safe space without the distractions that occur in everyday life. Removing outside interference allows the patient to focus solely on recovery, the most difficult step in this already demanding process.

Identifying Behavior Patterns

Long-term programs have the advantage of being able to focus on and identify destructive behaviors and patterns. Examining these patterns allows you to inspect and understand the underlying issues that caused the addiction internally and explore ways to cope positively, empowering you to avoid potential relapse.

Patients (and their families) will undergo interviews and screenings to discuss individual circumstances, desired outcomes, and how to best set the person up for success. Detox and withdrawal comprise the first phase of rehabilitation, with qualified medical staff providing supervision and support during this extremely trying period.

Afterward, the focus is on therapy and recovery. Patients receive counseling in both individual and group settings, investigating the core of the addiction and learning to identify and address potential triggers that could arise once the individual returns to his/her outside environment.

Healing is an ongoing process. If you’re ready to start your journey to recovery today, call us at 800-737-0933

Which States Has The Biggest Heroin Problems

The number of individuals in the United States who have a problem with heroin has increased exponentially over the past 10 years. Unlike other drug usage, heroin does not discriminate. According to the CDC, the use of heroin has increased equally amongst genders, ethnic groups, and all ages. In fact, many demographic groups that had previously escaped the heroin epidemic are now finding themselves in the midst of this addiction. Privately insured individuals and high-earners are now more commonly using heroin and other drugs, such as cocaine and prescription opioids.

Despite the unanimous issue of heroin abuse between all 50 states, some states are more prone to a population that utilizes this illicit drug. This is partly due to limited access to substance abuse clinics and programs, a lack of prevention services, and local jurisdictions whose practices are ineffective in communities where drug abuse is common. Educational foundations and occupational opportunities also often go hand-in-hand with levels of drug abuse.

States With the Biggest Increases in Heroin Usage

In 2002 alone hospitals in the state of Kentucky admitted 65 patients as a result of heroin overdoses. The number increased by an alarming 1,872% over the course of 10 years. The year 2012 presented Kentucky hospitals with a whopping 1,282 heroin overdoses.

Not far behind Kentucky lies Alaska, which has seen a 1,690% increase in rehab admissions for heroin. From 11 patients in 2002 to 197 patients in 2012 these statistics show that this drug reaches from one side of America to the other. In fact, heroin overdoses are so common in this state that the Alaska Department of Health and Human Services provides information on places where Narcan (the drug that reverses the effects of an overdoes) can be attained.

Identifying a Patient Broker Website for Drug Treatment in Florida

Patient brokering is a topic of high concern lately throughout Florida and the United States. This practice is finally coming out into the public eye and many citizens are just plainly disgusted. If you have never heard of patient brokering before, we’re going to go over what this practice is and how you can avoid falling victim to it.

What Is Patient Brokering?

Patient brokering is an illegal practice in which health care facilities pay ‘junkie hunters’ a referral fee to get access to a patient. Once the patient is signed up at their facility, they will charge the insurance company for a multitude of different procedures and tests. These procedures and tests aren’t actually performed and the health care facility pockets the insurance payments.

There are many ways that these disgraceful health care facilities are collecting patients. From having referrers on the street preying on those with an obvious drug or alcohol problem to online websites, these facilities will pay a high amount to anyone that will successfully score them another patient. This practice is illegal in every state, however, current providers are trying to use loopholes to get out of being charged.

It’s important that you take precautions when it comes to finding the right rehab facility for your loved one. You don’t want them to end up in these patient brokering facilities. This is not only because they scheme and rip off unsuspecting insurance companies, but they don’t actually help the patients. Many addicts who have fallen victim to these schemes have not received the help they needed to successfully become sober. Every failed attempt leaves those with addiction problems relapsing and makes it harder for them to accept trying another program.

The Main Signs That A Website Is A Patient Brokering Scheme

It’s hard not to search online for a care facility for your addicted loved one. There is a vast wealth of information from many quality facilities that truly want to help them. Unfortunately, telling the true centers from the fake ones takes a keen eye. Let’s look at some of the common signs that the website is brokering patients.

Start by looking for the basic contact information. You should be able to find a valid address and phone number for the facility. There should be the treating physician’s names as well. If a website lacks this basic information, it’s likely that the website is brokering patients. This typically occurs by having you call a number, which is tracked, that connects you to one of the scamming health care facilities. The facility then pays the website owner a referral fee when you call the number and book a visit.

Why a Family Owned Drug Rehab Center is Your Best Option for Getting Into Recovery and Staying Sober

Your Adult Child Will Feel Comfortable At a Family-owned Rehabilitation Facility

When you have an adult child who is addicted to drugs and alcohol, you must encourage him/her to seek treatment. Fear is one of the main reasons why addicts avoid going to a drug rehabilitation facility. He may worry about staying in a strange environment with strangers, but it is possible to find a family-owned rehabilitation facility. At a drug treatment facility that is operated by someone local in Florida, they will feel more comfortable during the rehabilitation process. For a young adult who has never lived away from home, staying in a family-owned facility is less frightening. Within a smaller atmosphere they can feel right at home.

Family Owned Rehabilitation Facilities Have Knowledgeable Counselors

You may have heard that alcohol or drug addiction is a family problem or disease. That is why being involved in the rehab process is essential. After the person has experienced addiction and has gone through the early recovery process, you will be encouraged to visit the facility to participate in family therapy sessions. The best counselors in a drug treatment center are the individuals who have experienced addiction themselves or who have witnessed the problem in a relative. If you arrange for your child to live in a residential drug rehabilitation facility, then he/she will have one-on-one or group therapy with counselors who have personal experience with addiction. They will receive top-notch care from the counselors there.

You Will Feel Safer In a Family Owned Treatment Center

Instead of spending 30-90 days in a drug addiction program at an unknown location, choose a family-owned facility for your child. They will feel safer in a family atmosphere where the facility feels like a home instead of an institution.

Pennsylvania to add Centers for Excellence to Treat Opioid Addiction

One of the issues facing opioid addicts and their families is the lack of follow-up services after an initial round of addiction treatment has been completed. Drug cravings can continue to be an issue for months after a person goes through detoxification (detox). Good quality support services are imperative if a person in recovery is going to be successful at maintaining their sobriety.

Centers Offer Assessment and Referrals to Treatment

Pennsylvania is seeking to address this issue by establishing 45 Centers of Excellence. These Centers, which will be separate operations located inside existing addiction, medical and mental health facilities, will be used to assess an addict’s needs and make appropriate referrals to treatment programs and other services. The Centers can make referrals to the following types of addiction treatment options:

• Detoxification (detox)
• Residential treatment
• Outpatient treatment
• 12-step programs
• Halfway houses

Once someone has been referred to treatment, they are treated by a team of specialists. The team will help the addict access treatment for medical and mental health concerns they are experiencing.

The Center of Excellence staff’s goal is to help the addict stay in treatment long-term, as this strategy has been identified as one of the important factors for long-term sobriety success. These Centers can also help addicts with social services, such as housing and employment, which are essential to being able to rebuild a life that is free from drugs and alcohol.

Addiction Medication Available Through Centers

The Centers will also offer addiction medication to clients. These drugs, including Vivitrol and Suboxone, are used to help curb cravings for opioids. When the medication is made available to clients in recovery, along with addiction counseling and treatment, the odds of being able to remain clean and sober are greatly increased compared to simply trying to “tough it out” without these types of support.

The state has committed $20.4 million in funding to the Centers for Excellence. The federal government will contribute an additional $5.4 million.

The Centers are expected to see about 11,500 people during the first year. Most of them will be Medicaid users; however, the Centers will accept clients with private insurance as well.

Finding Treatment Options

Many people in Pennsylvania seeking help for a substance abuse problem prefer to leave the state to focus on their recovery. This is one of the reasons that they chose facilities like Genesis House in Florida. Genesis House provides a range of individualized treatment services and continues to help people take giant leaps toward their long-term recovery.
