''Before entering the Genesis House Center my life was falling apart but I was the last one to see it. I was drinking every night after work, fighting with my wife and not attending to our two children. I would call in sick a lot which placed me in a bad light with my supervisor. I was called into his office one day and confronted about this situation. They somehow he knew of my drinking problem and suggested I go get some help. My wife had heard about this great rehab in Florida and we decided to call. The next day I was on a plane to Genesis House in Palm Beach Florida. The rest is an amazing story. I worked with this fantastic counselor named Robert who help me identify all the old issues which triggered my urges to drink. I learned about the disease of alcoholism and how to prevent relapse. I loved the beautiful facility, pool and beach outings which helped me get back feeling healthy again. Today I'm back at work, sober and caring for myself and family again. ''I didn't really ever want to end up in a rehab! I thought that I was to smart for that. Little did I know at the time that my cocaine use would place me exactly there. I didn't know that addiction was a progressive illness. My using slowly became much worse. My parents noticed a change in my attitude and regular habits. I started to isolate only to leaving the house to score more coke. I think they were afraid to confront me about it or they didn't know how to. Then one night I got a DUI and the police found some coke. I was suddenly in big trouble. Because it was my first legal trouble of any kind the state agreed to let me go to rehab. I went to Genesis House near my home town. I was scared to death to go into a rehab. I had heard some crazy stuff about how they were. When I arrived at Genesis House, I thought they had made a mistake. It looked like some kind of private resort. It was just cool. Palm trees, lawns, swimming pool and a great team of counselors and staff. I went to therapy sessions, did Yoga, and attended 12 step meetings. After thirty days I went to a local halfway house where I am today. I have 90 days clean and my life is back to the way it used to be before drugs and alcohol. I am so grateful I was allowed to enter treatment at Genesis House. ''

''My name is Ed and I struggled with drug and alcohol abuse for years. I think that I have been in ten treatment centers and countless detox centers in my life. I lost just about everything due to my addiction including my self respect and self esteem. For some reason I could not get sober and stay sober. I was just about to give up hope and throw the towel in when I heard about a treatment center in Florida that seemed to offer something special. My old friend had gone there and he was still clean and sober. He was as bad as I was on drugs and alcohol so I thought there may be hope for me. I called a rehab named Genesis House and a friendly women answered the phone. She seemed to how exactly how I felt and how my current life was. I had nothing to lose so I decided to go in for another try at treatment. The program was very intense but not overwhelming. I received a lot of individual counseling and group therapy. I guess that's what I needed. I learned to have fun clean and sober by going on the Genesis outings to the park and beach. I have renewed interest in sports and fishing, an interest I had when I was younger. I am clean now 8 months and that's the longest time I've had in years sober. If I keep working with the tools that were given to me at Genesis I should be just fine. I really would like to thank all the great staff at Genesis for helping me and for being so caring while I was in treatment. You guys are fantastic! ''

''I was born in Trenton, New Jersey to a very normal family. My father worked for the Amtrak and my mom was a housewife. Life was good in New Jersey back then. My drinking began when I was in high school. It was a weekend thing that I did with my buddies. We loved to go to New Jersey Devils Hockey games drink and look for women. I didn't realize that my drinking was getting more frequent and that I was slowly beginning to drink after work on weekdays. My friends seemed concerned by my over use of alcohol. Then one night I was pulled over on the New Jersey turnpike for weaving down the road. I was arrested and charged for DUI. I thought they were taking things way to seriously. I received a fine and probation, but shortly after that trouble ended I got into an accident while driving intoxicated. The New Jersey Courts mandated I be sent to alcohol treatment or face jail. I chose the former. I had heard about this place in Florida near the beach where my friend had gone. It was called Genesis House and before I knew it I was in Florida on their beautiful campus. I spent six weeks learning about my Illness, Addiction and Recovery Principles. The staff were wonderful caring and very professional. I have returned to New Jersey to return to my old job. Thanks to Genesis, I now have six months sober and a new outlook on life and sobriety. ''

''Just wanted to drop you a line and let you know that you and Genesis House made a difference in this guy's life. Closing in on two years of sobriety now. I know that you have many patients coming in and out of your facility, but you were my counselor back in January and February of 2008. I struggled for years prior to Genesis and since then I have been “Done”. I needed to have this mindset and it has worked one day at a time since. I no longer have the “pull” towards a drink that I used to have and work a pretty decent, yet not perfect program. I chair meetings and make coffee when needed. I got a great network of guys and have a good time at our meetings. I typically hit four or five meetings a week now. I was an every dayer for quite a while. But I have since tried to keep a good balance and have pulled back a little. Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for my time there. It really hit the spot! I spent a lot of time under the Palm Trees where we would open and close our days. I go there a lot in my head. It brings me peace.
